Dough MacRay (Ben Affleck) dan kelompoknya merupakan perampok bank. Dan komplotan perampok ini telah menjadi legenda karena tidak pernah tertangkap meskipun berkali-kali merampok bank.
Dan pada salah satu aksi perampokan bank mereka, Dough dan komplotannya menyandera salah satu karyawati bank bernama Claire Keesey (Rebecca Hall). Mereka berhasil lolos dari kejaran pihak berwajib, tetapi bagi Claire Keesey hal ini menyebabkan dampak psikologis yang buruk.
Dan bagi Doug ternyata kecantikan Claire Keesey meninggalkan rasa tertarik. Dough menemui Claire dan menjalin hubungan dengannya. Dan hal ini semakin rumit karena para FBI memburu Dough dan komplotannya.
