Come celebrate National Day of Prayer on Thursday
Ocimnet - The National Day of Prayer is Thursday. This year's theme is "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God." Here are some area observances:
BETHEL
The National Day of Prayer will be observed from 6 to 7 p.m. with prayer and singing at the gazebo on the green at the Municipal Center on School Street.
BrOOKFIELD
The National Day of Prayer will be observed from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the flagpole at the Brookfield Town Hall on Pocono Road. Those attending may bring folding chairs for comfort.
DANBURY
Mayor Mark Boughton invites all faith leaders and interested people to join him at 11 a.m. at City Hall, 172 Deer Hill Ave., for prayer in observance of the National Day of Prayer. For information, call CityLine 311 at 203-744-4311.
RIDGEFIELD
A Day of Prayer for the Nation, sponsored by the National Task Force, a Judeo-Christian organization, will be observed Thursday at noon in Ballard Park on Main Street. It is open to the public.
The American Legion Color Guard, under the direction of George Besse, will participate. Cathy Fuselier, of Bethel, will sing.
SHERMAN
People will meet at Veterans Field by the gazebo to observe the National Day of Prayer from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m.
SOUTHBURY
Gatherings will take place at noon and at 6 p.m. at the flagpole next to Southbury Town Hall on Main Street South.
NEW FAIRFIELD
A gathering will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the gazebo on Memorial Field, 3 Brush Hill Road.
NEW FAIRFIELD
A Japan Relief Concert Series and National Day Of Prayer meeting will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. at New Life Community Church, United Methodist, 1 Beaver Bog Road. This free concert will feature worship singer Alfie Silas Durio, for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association/Franklin Graham Festivals Around the World.
NEW MILFORD
A ceremony to mark the National Day of Prayer will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. at the bandstand on the Village Green. Musical performances by New Milford residents Pat Maguire and Kara Leigh Sakis will be part of the program. The event will take place rain or shine, and seating will be available. NEWTOWN
A prayer event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Edmond Town Hall in the Alexandria Room on the 2nd floor, 45 Main St.
REDDING
There will be a National Day of Prayer meeting at the gazebo at Redding Town Hall, Route 107. It is suggested to bring folding chairs for comfort.
ROXBURY
A Prayers for our Nation event will take place from noon to 1 p.m. on the lawn of Christ Church Episcopal, 4 Wellers Bridge Road.
WARREN
A Prayers for the Nation event will take place from 7 to 7:30 p.m. at the Warren Congregational Church, 4 Sackett Hill Road.
WASHINGTON DEPOT
The National Day of Prayer will be observed from noon to 12:30 p.m. on the green in front of Bryan Memorial Town Hall, Route 47.
WOODBURY
The Woodbury National Day of Prayer will be observed from noon to 1 p.m. on the North Green by the gazebo, 152 Church Hill Road.
