Worker is shot in the head with a nail gun

Ocimnet - A construction worker is counting his lucky stars after miraculously surviving a four-inch barbed nail accidentally being driven into his brain.



The unnamed Texas man was handed a nail gun at his work place last Friday when it off, firing a nail into his skull.



It could have left him paralysed or dead, but the man is now making a full recovery after undergoing emergency surgery to remove the nail from his dominant lobe.





Medical City Plano’s Dr Rob Dickerman, the neurosurgeon who carried out the procedure, told Fox News that he had absolutely no room for error.



He said: ‘You make a wrong move or a millimetre away here or there, it can be a disastrous outcome.’



Luckily, the delicate operation was a success.



In an interview with the news channel, Dr Dickerman added: ‘He awoke and did fine. Scans looked good. There really wasn’t a drop of blood on the post-op scan. He did very well. An interesting case with a great outcome and those are always the best.’

He explained that the man’s skull had acted in the same way as a piece of wood, and stopped the nail dead.



Sadly, accidents of this type are far from uncommon, with around 37,000 people needing hospital treatment for nail gun accidents every year, according to the U.S Centers for Disease Control.



The U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission puts the annual cost for treating nail gun wounds at around $338million (£205million) a year, when rehabilitation and compensation pay-outs are factored in.

In fact, the two-storey, 53ft long, 30-ton luxury home from home used by Mr Demi Moore isn’t called a trailer – it’s described as a ‘mobile estate’.









With side sections and a second floor that hydraulically emerge from the main body to offer a total floor space of 1,100 sq ft, the ‘Baby Girl’ boasts seven 60in 3D plasma screens, a vast living area, two bathrooms, a kitchen with granite surfaces and a conference space.



After being sacked from Two And A Half Men, Charlie Sheen made a spoof film about trying to ‘rescue’ his beloved trailer from the Warner Brothers lot in Burbank, Los Angeles. Kutcher would be advised not to try anything similar.



Designed by Ron Anderson of Anderson Mobile Estates, these mobile behemoths are built to the stars’ specifications. Previous ‘residents’ have included Mariah Carey, Sharon Stone and Vin Diesel.



At $8,750 a week it’s just as well Kutcher is reported to be on a possible $20 million for 26 episodes.



Cameras mounted on the outside of the trailer offer 360-degree video security and surveillance. When a visitor hits the doorbell, the volume on the stereo system and TV drops inside and the image of the visitor appears on the various screens located throughout. One client insisted on a thumb scanner entry system for the master bedroom.





The outside patio area is fitted with wind sensors so the electric awning retracts automatically in gusty conditions. Inside, a wireless touchscreen remote controls heat, air conditioning, brightness and the blinds.



In addition to his four rental vehicles – ‘Baby Girl’, ‘The Heat’, ‘Studio One’ and ‘Aspen’ – Anderson has sold nine of the mobile units to people he describes as ‘among the richest on the planet’.



The cost? A cool $2 million each.

The incredible images of British ship bombed by German warplanes

British ship bombed by German warplanes 70 years ago that has become a diving hotspot - Astonishing images of the wreckage of SS Thistlegorm, a munitions ship sunk by German bombs in the Second World War, show why it has become a shipwreck explorers hotspot.



The ship was on what was to be her final mission delivering supplies to allies in Egypt when it was struck by a bomb in the middle of the night sending cargo of locomotives, tanks, airplane parts and motorcycles to the sea bed.



The wreck was discovered by French explorer, Jacques Cousteau, in the early fifties, however, upon leaving Cousteau had the mast cut off to hide it from would-be thieves.







The relic was rediscovered In the nineties and swiftly became a hotspot for shipwreck explorers and divers.



Today the Thistlegorm attracts divers from all over the world to Egypt, and its crustacean-clad cargo remains a stark reminder of the casualties sustained in the last Great War.



Underwater photographer, Damien Mauric, 35, from Paris, said the wreck's history is a big part of the reason he likes to dive the Thistlegorm.







He said: 'What makes this wreck unique is that it is full of history, It's a very strange feeling to dive it.



'There's a small hole through which you can get into the hold with your torch.

'You know that it's full of artifacts and the more you progress, the more you discover.'



The remains of motorbikes ravaged by the ocean fill rooms inside the ship as well as jeeps decorated with hundreds of pairs of unclaimed wellington boots.



A locomotive destined for the Egyptian Railways which was blown out of the ship by the explosion 70 years ago, lies discarded on the seabed.



These stunning pictures taken on Mr Mauric's last trip to Egypt coincided with the country's revolution, which began in January this year.



He said: 'Although people warned it might be dangerous, it was actually the best time to explore the wreck and visit Egypt.



'The first time I dived the Thistlegorm, there were hundreds of other divers down there.



'This time, however, I was virtually alone.'

Over the years parts of Thistlegorm have been damaged by divers, mooring boats and the effect of the ocean.







If one of the two remaining holds collapses in on itself, the chance to view the historic relic will be gone.



Mr Mauric said that although he is enthralled with the excitement of underwater exploration he wants to change the way people treat the ocean.

He said: 'Dive photography is a great passion of mine and I've traveled all over the world to do it.





'But the reason why I take pictures is because I feel extreme concern at the moment at the way we are treating our oceans.



'With my work I want to show how the oceans are beautiful and if they are not protected we are probably going to be the last generation to see them in this state.

'If we don't change the way we fish and treat the seas, future generations won't be able to take pictures like these.

Moment when surfer saw Jaws flying overhead

Ocimnet - Forget jump the shark... Amazing video captures moment when surfer saw Jaws flying overhead. The phrase ‘jump the shark’ was first used to describe a moment where something once great has reached a point where it can only get worse.

But for one gob-smacked surfer in waters off New Smyrna Beach in Florida, it was something he'll remember forever after a shark jumped him.

An incredible video by award-winning photographer Jacob Langston was captured of a 4ft spinner shark jumping over the surfer.

Mr Langston caught the moment on a GoPRo HD camera when he was chest deep in inlet waters, reported the Orlando Sentinel. But he was not anticipating it as his focus was actually on the foreground and he did not see the moment while he was filming.

A surfer reportedly asked him after it happened: ‘Dude! Did you see that? A four-foot spinner shark just jumped over a surfer.’ Later back in his office while editing his video, he realised what he had captured in the background, reported the Chicago Tribune.

The incredible moment when the shark performed a jump happens in the back area of the shot in between two surfers. The ‘jump the shark’ expression originally came from TV series Happy Days, when the character Fonzie jumped over a shark on water skis. This was labelled the worst point of the show and following that it was said to have no similarity to its original brilliance.

Aneh! Lagu Taxi Band Iringi Bunuh Diri Pemuda Putus Cinta

Ocimnet - MANADO - Dering ponsel memekakan telinga, seketika membuat Emy Mewengkang, warga Paal IV lingkungan 6, Tikala itu terjaga. Waktu menunjukan pukul 02.00 WITA. Rupanya ada pesan singkat masuk ke ponsel yang dikirim anaknya bernama Christo Kaunang alias Ito (22).

Matanya terbelalak ketika menatap SMS itu. Tertulis "Ma' jgn lupa lia kita p mayat di kamar (Mama jangan lupa lihat mayat saya di kamar)," Sontak kantuk Emy langsung lenyap, berganti panik. Sang ibu langsung menyambangi kamar anaknya. Kamar itu terkunci rapat, terdengar keras lagu Taxi Band mengalun lewat ponsel yang disambung ke pengeras suara.

Saat mengintip di jendala kamar, Emy menyaksikan tubuh Christo tergantung seutas tali nilon hijau, menjerat lehernya. Tak pelak,tangisan Emy memecah kesunyian dini hari itu "Kiapa so ba bodok bagini, ampun akang Tuhan, nyanda sangka Ito, jadi bagini (Kenapa bodoh seperti ini, ampun Tuhan, saya tidak sangka Ito seperti ini)," ujar ibu tiga anak ini.

Ia terus histeris sembari mengelus-elus tubuh anaknya. Tangis Emy membuat, tetangga terjaga. Cerita pilu pun segera menyebar. Rumah keluarga Kaunang Mewengkang yang terletak di dalam gang itu pun penuh dengan kerumunan warga.

Setelah melapor ke Polisi, Tubuh Christo pun diturunkan, tali yang terikat di atas balok langit-langit rumah di potong. Tubuh yang mengenakan baju merah itu kemudian dibaringkan di tempat tidur.

Korban meninggalkan dua saudara, tertua bernama Stela dan si bungsu Angel.

Personel identifikasi Polresta kemudian mengambil sidik jari korban. Emy dan Angel terlihat menangisi jenazah kakaknya. Sedangkan Stela, berdiri menatap di depan kamar sembari bercucuran air mata.

Penyelidikan lanjut menemukan, ada indikasi korban bunuh diri dari pesan-pesan singkat di ponselnya. Dari isi pesan - pesan tersebut, korban cekcok dengan pacarnya hingga akhirnya hubungan kedua insan itu berakhir.

Satu pesan mengungkapkan, ada dugaan bahwa pacar korban punya pria idaman lain. Pesan singkat terakhir, dikirimkan korban ke ibunya, sebelum mengakhiri hidupnya.

Kematian Christo membuat keluarga kaget. Stela, kakak korban tak menyangka, adiknya nekat mengakhiri hidup.
Setahu dia, memang adiknya itu punya masalah asmara dengan pacar. Sehari sebelum mengakhiri hidup, Chrsito dan pacarnya terlihat cekcok di dalam kamar rumah korban.

Bahkan kata Stela, Christo sempat melukai diri. "Dia iris badan,kita nintau bakalae apa, mama ada marah pa dia ( Dia iris badan, saya tahu kamu tidak suka berkelahi, mama marah dengan dia)," tuturnya sembari terisak.

Kata Stela, ia tak mengenal pacar adiknya. Kendati, pacarnya itu sering datang menginap di rumah "Soalnya jarang dia komunikasi, kita tahu dia perawat di Rumah sakit Malalayang," ucapnya.

Dari pesan singkat di ponsel, korban sering menyebut nama Rhini. Soal Asmara, Stela mengaku, adiknya jarang bertutur kepadanya.

Sebelum ditemukan tak bernyawa, korban sempat menyetel lagu Taxi Band lagu itu terdengar warga sejak pukul 22.00 WIT. Disetel berulang-ulang secara otomatis, di kamar korban ditemukan, satu buah kursi plastik biru tanpa sandaran di atas meja kayu, diduga kursi itu di jadikan pijakan untuk mengikat tali, sebelum akhirnya mengakhiri hidup.
